Our Story
The Okanagan Screen Awards was started in 2023 as a way to celebrate the creativity, talent, and stories emerging from one of Canada’s fastest-growing film regions. The event brings filmmakers, artists, and audiences together for a weekend of screenings, awards, and connection - spotlighting the voices shaping the Okanagan’s on-screen culture.
From narrative films and documentaries to music videos and animation, the Okanagan Screen Awards exist to recognize excellence while strengthening the local filmmaking community through shared experience, collaboration, and celebration.
About the Okanagan Society of Independent Filmmaking (OSIF)
The Okanagan Screen Awards are proudly presented by the Okanagan Society of Independent Filmmaking (OSIF), a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting, educating, and advocating for independent filmmakers in the Okanagan region.
OSIF works year-round to grow the local film industry by:
- Creating opportunities for filmmakers to showcase their work
- Offering workshops, events, and professional development
- Building community through networking and collaboration
- Advocating for safe, inclusive, and sustainable filmmaking practices
